So, how do I make sure I succeed?
Thousands of people have ideas about what they want to do in life every day. The difference between those who achieve it, and those who dream is the determination to succeed.

So how do you succeed? Let’s be frank for a minute here. How many people have achieved something and never worked for it? Not many, I’d suggest. Not saying that’s impossible – I mean you could win the lottery, but it’s unlikely.

So, if you’re going to have to work for your success, how on earth will you find the time?? While I’m prepared to be proved wrong in exceptional circumstances, I’m prepared to bet that well over 90% of the population can find a couple of hours a week to work on their project – whether that’s working towards a new job, studying, volunteering, or planning an experience.

How do you spend your time?

• Ever go to the pub? How many times a week?
• Ever watch TV? How many hours a week?
• Ever play computer/console games? How many hours a week?
• Do you smoke? How many a day? 6 minutes times 20 cigarettes equals 2 hours, by the way. Smoke 20 fags a day? That’s TWO HOURS a DAY you could be spending working for yourself, instead of paying someone else to ruin your health.

If you really want to pursue your goal, you’ll easily find time to devote to reaching it. Spend some time browsing around the site links on www.wouldliketobe.com, and then make sure you push yourself to achieve your goal. Some people find it easier to be disciplined and to set aside a regular slot (eg Sunday evenings) when they work on their projects, others just find themselves unable to stop working on it when they've got the bit between their teeth. If you're not sure which suits you, try a few different approaches until you find one that works. There will be an approach that works for you - just don't give up until you find it.

The most important thing to remember is this: If you want to make a change to your life, but are stuck because you don't know how to do it, just make a start somewhere. The advice and help is out there. You can start with some of the tools on the internet, and find somewhere that looks like it'll give you the advice you need. As with everything else, if you do nothing, nothing will change. Do something - even just a little, and you've made a start. Take it from there, and see how far it takes you. If you find that the first place you try ends up not giving you what you want, do not, on any account, give up! You've learned a very valuable lesson - what doesn't work for you. That's just as important as finding out what does. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and have another go. It won't take long until you find something that lets you make progress - which, by the way, is incredibly exciting. And good luck - whatever you decide to do.

And finally, if you ever get stuck, or need some motivation, just pop back here – there’s bound to be someone in the forums who’ll be happy to give you a kick up the backside if you feel you need one!
